Zinc futures surge 0.72% on overseas cues

Zinc futures were trading higher during evening trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators extended their positions in the industrial metal on weaker greenback after centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron won the first round of French presidential election. In France, Macron took a big step towards the presidency on Sunday by winning the first round of voting and qualifying for a May 7 runoff alongside far-right leader Marine Le Pen. 

 

At the MCX, zinc futures for April 2017 contract is trading at Rs 167.85 per kg, up by 0.72 per cent, after opening at Rs 166.85, against a previous close of Rs 166.65. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 167.95.
