Gold imports jump over 2-fold to $13.35 bn in April-July

India's gold imports more than doubled to USD 13.35 billion during the April-July period of the current fiscal, according to the data of the commerce ministry, reported PTI. Gold imports, which has bearing on the country's current account deficit (CAD), stood at USD 4.97 billion in April-July 2016-17. In July this year, imports of the precious metal rose to USD 2.10 billion from USD 1.07 billion in the same month of the previous year.

Gold prices inched up early on Wednesday after two days of losses, with investors awaiting minutes from the U.S. Federal Reserve's last meeting in July for clues on the pace of potential interest rate hikes.

Spot gold inched 0.1 percent higher to $1,272.81 per ounce by 0357 GMT, after falling for two straight days.

U.S. gold futures for December delivery was down 0.1 %at $1,278.50 an ounce.

* Gold prices edged lower, pulling back from their highest level in around two months as concerns about tensions between the U.S. and North Korea eased.

Commodity Market:-Silver News Update

Silver futures were trading lower during afternoon trade in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators exited their positions in the precious metal on subdued physical demand amid firmer greenback.

At the MCX, silver futures for May 2017 contract is trading at Rs 41394 per kg, down by 0.27 per cent, after opening at Rs 41440, against a previous close of Rs 41505. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 41319.

Technically market is under fresh selling as market has witnessed gain in open interest by 2.68% to settled at 12019 while prices down -393 rupees, now Silver is getting support at 41145 and below same could see a test of 40785 level, And resistance is now likely to be seen at 41920, a move above could see prices testing 42335.

*Silver trading range for the day is 40785-42335.

*Silver prices edged lower amid fading demand despite jitters ahead of the French presidential election and ongoing geopolitical tensions over North Korea.

*The Labor Department said initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 244,000 for the week ended April 15.

Commodity News Update :- पूरे देश में एक कीमत पर मिलेंगे सोने के गहने

जीएसटी लागू होने के बाद पूरे देश में एक समान कीमत पर सोने के गहने मिलेंगे। सीएनबीसी-आवाज़ को मिली एक्सक्लूसिव जानकारी के मुताबिक जीएसटी के तहत सोने के गहने पर टैक्स की दर 3-4 फीसदी के बीच रह सकती है। यानी सोने के गहने के लिए अलग टैक्स स्लैब रखा जाएगा।

 

बड़ी मात्रा में सोने के गहने खरीदने वाले अक्सर ये हिसाब लगाते हैं कि खरीदारी कहां से की जाए। और कहां ये सस्ता होगा। लेकिन पहली जुलाई के बाद यानी जीएसटी लागू होने के साथ ही कम से कम इस झंझट से छुटकारा मिल जाएगा। क्योंकि जीएसटी के तहत सभी राज्यों में सोने के गहने पर एक समान ड्यूटी लगेगी। दूसरे शब्दों में कहें तो दिल्ली जैसे राज्यों में सोने के गहनों के दाम अभी के मुकाबले ज्यादा हो सकते हैं जबकि केरल जैसे राज्यों में ये कम हो सकते हैं।

 

दरअसल अभी सोने के गहने पर केंद्र सरकार 1 फीसदी एक्साइज ड्यूटी लगाती है जो पूरे देश में एक समान होता है। लेकिन हर राज्य सरकार अलग-अलग वैट लगाती है। मसलन दिल्ली में 1 फीसदी, तो केरल में 5 फीसदी, महाराष्ट्र में 1.2 फीसदी। ऐसे में हर राज्य में ज्वैलरी के दाम अलग-अलग हो जाते हैं। जीएसटी के तहत एक समान टैक्स तो लगेगा ही। लेकिन सबसे अहम बात ये है कि सूत्रों के मुताबिक जीएसटी के तहत टैक्स की ये दर 3-4 फीसदी के बीच हो सकती है। मान लीजिए कि ये 3 फीसदी होगा तो दिल्ली में ज्वैलरी 1 फीसदी महंगी हो जाएगी जबकि केरल में 2 फीसदी सस्ती हो जाएगी। इंपोर्ट ड्यूटी 10 फीसदी से घटाकर 6 फीसदी कर दिया जाए और इसके अनुपात में जीएसटी रेट बढ़ा दिया जाए। दूसरी दलील ये है कि 12 फीसदी रेट तय किया जाए।

Railways earn Rs 228 crore more on child fare

The Railways earned Rs 228 crore more by charging full adult fare from children in the reserved class in the fiscal 2016-17, Rajya Sabha was told today. Railways earned total Rs 914 crore from child passengers between April 21, 2016 and March 20, 2017 as against Rs 686 crore during the same period the previous year. Children, between 5 and 12 years of age, for whom berth is sought at the time of reservation, are charged full adult fare from April 21, 2016, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said in a written reply in the House. 

 

However, at the time of reservation if full berth is not sought then half of basic adult fare is charged subject to minimum distance for charge. Children below the age of 5 years are carried free in trains. The additional earnings from passengers booked on child fare in the reserved class during the period of April 21, 2016 to March 20, 2017 is about Rs 228 crore more as compared to the same period the previous year.
